Laboratory Technician

About the job

This position supports laboratory operations by managing the collection, accessioning, ordering, and transportation of clinical laboratory specimens. The role also involves providing customer service to physician offices and hospital associates, communicating test results, training new associates and students, and assisting with problem resolution.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, order, and transport laboratory specimens
• Accession specimens accurately
• Communicate test results verbally and electronically
• Train and orient new associates and students
• Follow established protocols and procedures

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate's Degree in science preferred
• Less than 2 years of related experience
• Strong attention to detail and customer service skills

Skills & Requirements

• Use hospital computer and phone systems
• Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication
• Follow safety protocols for handling potentially infectious materials
• Operate laboratory equipment as assigned
