This role supports the Child Nutrition Program of Bessemer City Schools, assisting with food preparation, serving, cleaning, and facility upkeep. Responsibilities include maintaining high standards of sanitation and safety, and contributing to a positive school environment by providing nutritious meals.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, serve, and store a wide variety of foods while adhering to safety and sanitation standards.
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, dining areas, and food storage facilities.
• Accurately follow recipes, portion guidelines, and meal serving procedures.
• Maintain records related to food use, cleaning activities, and inventories.
• Participate in professional growth, training activities, and school-sponsored programs.

Qualifications

• Basic skills in reading, writing, and math; high school diploma or GED preferred.
• Familiarity with food service safety and sanitation practices; current Food Handler Permit or ServSafe Certification preferred.
• Satisfactory background check and health screenings required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, and work in varied temperature environments.

Work Environment

• On-site at school cafeteria in Bessemer, United States.
• Reports to the Principal and Cafeteria Manager with duties including support for school and community activities.
