This role involves overseeing and advancing environmental, health, and safety programs across several sites in the food manufacturing industry. The EHS Manager leads a team to ensure company-wide compliance, drives continuous improvement, and helps foster a proactive safety culture that aligns with operational goals and sustainable practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Model and lead a proactive safety culture
- Align operational realities with safety programs
- Encourage near-miss and hazard reporting
- Facilitate safety-related Kaizen events and root cause analysis
- Oversee safety training and validation
- Lead incident investigations and new hire orientations
- Direct emergency preparedness and response efforts
- Manage the EHS team's development and performance
- Guide facilities toward OSHA VPP/Flagship participation
- Collaborate on workers' compensation and return-to-work programs
- Manage departmental budgets and safety programs execution
Qualifications
- 7+ years in operations or production leadership, preferably food manufacturing
- Experience in incident investigations and environmental compliance
- Deep knowledge of OSHA 1910 standards
- Proven experience implementing practical safety programs
- Effective coaching and mentoring skills
Certifications/Licenses
- Valid driver's license required
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification
- Preferred: CSP, ASP, CIH, Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
- Additional training/certifications in HAZWOPER, Confined Space, First Aid/CPR, Ergonomics, and others
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in relevant field
- Experience with achieving OSHA VPP/Flagship
- Lean, Six Sigma, or TPM experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Working Conditions
- Overtime and weekend work as needed
- Travel between Arbuckle and Woodland
- Ability to work at a desk for extended periods and lift up to 15 lbs
- Work in dusty, oily, and noisy environments
