About the job

The Environmental, Health, and Safety Specialist supports compliance with environmental regulations and management systems at a steel mill facility. The role ensures environmental permits and programs are managed appropriately and provides support across various operational and safety tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support facility environmental compliance activities
  • Manage documentation for permits, regulatory standards, and company programs
  • Implement and update Environmental Management System in line with ISO 14001
  • Conduct data collection, sampling, and reporting for regulatory compliance
  • Serve as on-site coordinator during environmental incidents
  • Attend training, meetings, and conduct contractor audits
  • Provide backup to the Safety Department and oversee safety initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related field required
  • 4+ years’ experience in environmental compliance (7 preferred)
  • Experience with air, water, and waste permitting and ISO 14001 preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to plant and mill environments
  • Some lifting (up to 50 pounds), wearing safety gear, and exposure to environmental factors
