About the job
Contribute to patient care in an inpatient behavioral health setting by assisting nursing staff in addressing clients' diverse physical, emotional, and cultural needs. Work as an essential part of the treatment team to provide support to patients through direct care activities, documentation, safety monitoring, and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with direct patient care as directed by licensed nursing staff
- Record vital signs, food intake, and sleep patterns
- Monitor patients, document behaviors, and enforce safety precautions
- Maintain a safe and contraband-free environment
- Communicate any status changes to charge nurse promptly
- Participate in ongoing training and team meetings
- Precept and train new staff as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in a healthcare or related setting
- Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of employment
- Annual renewal or as applicable for crisis de-escalation certification
- Basic skill in standard office equipment
Physical Demands
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Requires bending, stooping, reaching, and good body mechanics
