About the job
This position supports the registration and admission process at a hospital, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The role is essential for ensuring accurate patient records, processing insurance, and supporting the financial aspects of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient registration and admission duties
- Enter confidential data with a high degree of accuracy
- Verify insurance eligibility and charity care
- Collect and process payments
- Maintain patient confidentiality and provide excellent customer service
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and departments to ensure data flow
- Verify and process Medicare and insurance documentation
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Office/clerical experience preferred
- Experience in a healthcare setting a plus
- Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred
- Typing speed of at least 40 wpm
- Knowledge of medical terminology and health insurance
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Physical Demands
- Sitting or standing for extended periods
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds, assisting with wheelchairs
- Use of PPE when required
