About the job
This position supports medical care by performing clinical and clerical duties in collaboration with patients, families, and staff across various departments. The role includes accurate recording of patient history and vitals, specimen collection, laboratory testing, and assisting with exams and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Interview patients and record medical history, vitals, and medication details
- Maintain and update patient records in the EHR/EPM
- Perform CLIA-waived lab tests and prepare specimens
- Prepare patients for exams, assist with procedures, and ensure proper sterilization of equipment
- Greet and assist patients, manage phone inquiries and patient intake
- Complete pre-visit planning and administer medications as per protocols
- Dismiss patients post-visit, document orders and care plans
- Participate in new staff orientation and attend required meetings
- Coordinate patient care including test results, referrals, and follow-up scheduling
- Act as scribe when required; document clinical visits and support provider in reporting and correspondence
- Maintain a clean and safe clinical environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant diploma/National Certification or equivalent military healthcare experience
- Completion of a medical assistant externship
- Current CPR certification through AHA or Red Cross (must be maintained)
