About the job
Aspire Living & Learning offers an opportunity for a school-based physical therapist to empower students with disabilities and physical challenges so they can thrive within the educational environment. By collaborating with educators and families, the physical therapist develops and implements individualized therapy plans, providing direct service and recommending adaptive equipment and environmental modifications to support school participation.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate students' mobility, posture, and physical functioning as they relate to education.
- Develop and deliver individualized physical therapy interventions in school settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and school personnel.
- Participate in IEP meetings and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Train staff on supporting student mobility and safety.
- Document and monitor student progress and maintain regulatory compliance.
- Support a positive workplace culture and pursue ongoing training.
Qualifications
- Master's or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current state license as a Physical Therapist.
- Certification from relevant certifying bodies (as applicable).
- Preferred: experience with school-aged children and familiarity with IDEA regulations.
- Effective communication and organizational skills, clear background checks, and a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions
- Majority of work performed within the school environment, including playgrounds and gyms.
- May encounter physical and behavioral demands, including PMT and assisting with toileting if necessary.
- Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasional travel.
